Open Doors Event In Selected Areas in Sofia

What do these sites share in common?

They will undergo transformation and will become places of art!

Citizens and guests of Sofia together with Sofia’s Mayor, cultural operators and NGOs, municipal councilors and the team of Sofia 2019 have been planning together how to bring to life abandoned buildings and warehouses around Sofia.

We have received numerous ideas for reconstructing the buildings and giving them a second life with new cultural content. Creative organizations inspired us to reflect on urban environment by means of art: the proposals included building open air stages for live performances and concerts (among the participants was Sofia Wind Orchestra), discussions, architecture workshops, marketplace of handmade souvenirs related to Sofia and many others.

In Klokotnitsa Tram Depot the “Transformatori” association welcomed us with a workshop for ideas;

UnderGara filled the Rotunda with artists and creators from various fields, led by the motto "Under One Sky";

"Culture Zone" organized a presentation and guided walks around the former industrial part of the city, starting at № 2 "Konstantin Stoilov" Street.

The forth cultural space on which the Open doors focused on, was the brand new (still under construction) underground theater in the lobby of the metro station "James Boucher" (entrance at "Zlaten Rog" Street), where we attended an improvised rehearsal, organized by the Union of Artists in Bulgaria.
